Bellevue West Class of 2005 graduate Dustin Fisher turned his passion for math, competition, and problem-solving into a career in aerospace engineering. From standout moments on the tennis court to earning both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Engineering, Fisher credits his coaches, experiences, and drive to keep growing for shaping a path that now has him solving complex challenges at Anduril Industries.

Dustin Fisher, Bellevue West Class of 2005

Q: What was your most memorable experience in high school?

A: Playing tennis for two years (junior and senior year). Beating a couple of previous state champions were my most memorable moments. 

Q: Tell us about a teacher, coach, or staff member who significantly impacted you

A: Tennis Coach & Math Teacher, Steve Lemon. He changed my life and taught me how to be a leader not only in tennis, but in my career as well. Forever grateful for having him in my life. 

Q: What activities, clubs, or sports were you involved in during high school, and how did they influence your path after graduation?

A: I played soccer, tennis, and was part of the DECA program. Each one of these activities has many memories and lessons learned that helped in my career. 

Q: What do you do for a living?

A: I’m a Mechanical Engineer currently working at Anduril Industries. I’ve loved math and puzzles since I was a kid and now love solving aerospace problems and building cool products that are influential to our DoD programs. My future goal is to become Chief Engineer of a major program at an aerospace company. 

Q: What has been your proudest achievement since leaving high school?

A: My proudest achievement is graduating with both a bachelor's and a master's degree in Engineering from Arizona State University. When I first started, I didn’t think I could do it, but with perseverance and dedication to studying and giving it my all, I did it!!  

Q: Tell us about your family.

A: I’m married to my best friend and wife, Amanda Fisher. She owns med spas in Washington and Arizona, and I’m so proud of her entrepreneurial mindset and accomplishments for her companies.  

Q: What advice would you give to current students in Bellevue who are trying to figure out their future paths?

A: Your path will change numerous times. Where you live, where you work, and who you will be with. It’s scary to make changes in your life, but opportunities come at unique times and take advantage of them as best as you can. Make the best decision for you and be selfish at times because no one else is looking out for your career/future path except for you. And final advice is to network as much as you can!!
