When I got to visit my little sister’s elementary school for my graduation walk. I went there too, so it was nice to see her and all my past teachers!

The day The Rumbles played in the school lounge. I wanted to see them so bad, but folks were extremely strict. Had to tell them I had extra class work to perform after school just to attend. BTW, it was a great concert.

I can't pick just one particular moment from the fall of 1971 through May of 1974 because there were too many moments that make up the back pages of my memories. Pep Club, Girls Swimming, lifeguarding and teaching swimming, Student Council, Class Rep, Homecoming and Prom; State football, wrestling and track and everything in-between was my life! And oh, what a wonderful life it was!

Should I go to Creighton University or Northern Colorado for nursing school? It's May 1974 and there were still a lot of questions left to answer. The one sure thing was that graduation was Wednesday, May 29th at 8:00 p.m. in the gym. It was about 90 degrees, and the gym wasn't air conditioned! Holy smokes was it hot! There were 620+ graduates, which equated to over an additional 1,300 spectators, so that gym was packed! But what a night it was! Principal Boilesen called out each and every scholarship that had been awarded, and the Board of Education handed each of us our true diploma; the band played Pomp and Circumstance, and the Bellaires sounded like angels. A night that to this day I still remember as my coming-of-age event and the one that launched me out into this big, wide world. WHAT A NIGHT!

Graduation! Unbelievable that it's been 53 years. We were an optimistic class. The 26th Amendment had passed, allowing us to vote as 18-year-olds, the war was finally de-escalating, Title IX was about to pass, and it was finally time to start the next chapters of our lives. We were ready...!

My memory was of me being small, skinny, shy and awkward eating lunch with nice, pretty, young ladies and barely talking to them. Which led me to change and be more outgoing when I moved schools, and led me to marry the sweetest, beautiful lady for the last 38 years and going strong. (Growing 3 inches and adding 50 lbs definitely helped.)
