How did your experiences as a student prepare you for your military career?
The diversity that the military community brought to our schools is something I have always been proud of and also what I love about the people I serve with.

What advice would you give current students and/or fellow alumni who are considering a career in the military?
To be honest with you, I had zero desire to join the military when I was a student. There are many reasons I now recognize, including the lack of representation of women in the military when I was younger (in the 1990s). Plus, I had zero interest in joining an organization with so many rules. It wasn't until I finished college and started my early professional career that I decided the military was the right path for me. Everyone is on their own path, it is rarely a straight path, so do what is best for you-when it is best for you.

Any other words of wisdom or stories you'd like to share?
Joining the military at 26 was the first time as a young adult that I had a steady paycheck, solid (free!) medical care, and a career that paid me to travel the world.
