Bellevue Alumni Association - Alumni Spotlight:

Mark Wisner, Bellevue West Class of 1987

Q: What was your most memorable experience in high school?

A: My times with the Swim Team. Going to swim meets, Saturday practices, and hanging with everyone on the team.

Q: Tell us about a teacher, coach, or staff member who significantly impacted you

A: Don Reimer, our Choir director, had a big impact on me, as I am sure he did for most of his students. We always had a fantastic time. Even though he demanded focus, he always made it fun. He really did get the best out of us.

Q: What activities, clubs, or sports were you involved in during high school, and how did they influence your path after graduation?

A: Swim team, choir, tennis team, pep club. These activities gave me confidence in myself to go on and do anything I set my mind to.

Q: What do you do for a living?

A: I am in broadcast television. I started during my Sophomore year of college and have never looked back. I worked my way up from a very small television market in northern Missouri, running studio cameras, audio, editing, and finally directing. That is where I discovered my passion for television news. I made it to Kansas City, then on to the ABC affiliate, KMGH, in Denver. I have been here at channel 7 for almost 29 years. I have had the privilege of leading a talented group of directors, production staff, and studio professionals, through some of Colorado's biggest stories. I am proud of the work we have done and the lives we have touched.

Q: What has been your proudest achievement since leaving high school?

A: I have won Emmys, been a part of some of Colorado biggest events, and watched as my Broncos and John Elway won their first Super Bowl. But I have to say being brave enough to take a risk and start a farm with my amazing wife and kids has been a journey that I will never forget.

Q: Tell us about your family.

A: I am married to Lori Wisner, Risk Manager for the town of Erie, CO. We have 4 wonderful kids and my first grandchild on the way! We have a farm in northern Colorado where we raise pigs, cows, goats, chickens, and turkeys. We still have our "regular" jobs while working hard on the farm to provide for our family, friends, and customers.

Q: What advice would you give to current students in Bellevue who are trying to figure out their future paths?

A: Find something you love to do and do it the very best you can while making a difference in your community. Be in the now and live for the moment. Dare to dream and work hard to make your dreams a reality.
